Principal Enterprise Architect Commercial OBU

The Principal Enterprise Architect Commercial OBU (Oncology Business Unit)  has overall accountability for the architecture across OBU US into other AZ business domains through strong collaboration with the other Ignite Enterprise Architects across Commercial and other C4E.  The architectures will support the AZ business and IT’s strategy.  The Principal Enterprise Architect Commercial OBU will be accountable for creating the relevant AZ standards, patterns and roadmaps and ensuring architectures are fully conformant with them. The role will be responsible for partnering with key business teams, IT Leadership teams and other Ignite EAs to develop the overall strategic position for OBU Digital and Architectural landscape, aligned to business strategies and visions.  The role will also be accountable for the overall health and effectiveness of key architecture processes such as standards and lifecycle management.

The Principal Enterprise Architect Commercial inspire change across Enterprise Architecture and will proactively address industry trends in the definition of AZ’s vision. The role acts as a sponsor or steering group member of projects wita multi-functionalal or enterprise-wide scope. 

The following are the core IT capabilities within the scope:

  • Life Sciences Commercial Technology Architecture covering CRM, Martech, Patient, Medical and Market access domains with focus on Salesforce and Adobe
  • Software Engineering enablement, including standards & governance, CI/CD toolkits, Agile engineering tools etc.
  • Cloud Platforms AWS, GCP and Azure
  • Agentic and GENAI technologies
  • The role will work closely with other Head of Enterprise Architecture, accountable for the design of the data payloads (models, metadata, master data, lineage) ensuring a comprehensive Business, Application, Information, and Infrastructure architecture.
  • Provide Enterprise Design thinking and support across the Enterprise, application and infrastructure domains of architecture and ensure the integration with data/information architecture builds
  • Define the architecture strategy, direction, and standards
  • Leads the development and execution of Data & Analytics specific architecture capability and strategy
  • Defines architecture strategy and principles, policies, and standards to produce function specific reference architectures and solutions, and ensures all Architects within Data & Analytics adhere to these
  • Manage relationships with Data & Analytics leadership to influence adoption of enterprise architecture frameworks, standards and policies
  • Drive and influence the development of global enterprise standards for the central Architecture & Technology Strategy function.
  • Analyze business data and AI priorities & strategies and translate these into architecture requirements for the enterprise
  • Act as an authority to the architecture community and the business regarding strategic architecture decisions for  
  • Refine architecture strategies, direction, standards, and patterns as required
  • Lead the development of Architecture Roadmaps and Blueprints (1-5 Year horizon)
  • Ensure continuous alignment of capabilities with current business priorities and objectives
  • Will be a contributing member of multi-functional decision-making bodies.
  • Acts as a sign off authority for solution and segment architectures as well as architecture blueprints and roadmaps
  • Champion EA initiatives across IT (and business)
  • Engage and build network with external architecture domain experts to remain up to date with latest trends and technologies in 
  • Act as strategic architectural advisor for senior IT and Business management
  • Ensure Architectures are in alignment with Global strategies and solutions
  • Analyze IT industry and market trends and determine potential impact upon enterprise
  • Establish partnerships with key technology suppliers
  • Provide thought leadership and advanced technical expertise for enterprise architecture across IT
  • Drive the continuous development of the Architecture Capability within IT, by championing and encouraging standard methodology sharing
  • Partner closely with service/engineering teams in refining architecture patterns, builds, and blueprints
  • Cost reductions (efficiency)
  • Adoption of new technology against Architecture strategy roadmap (adoption would be the important metric)
  • Vendor management
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Team engagement

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent number of years of experience in a Computer Science or Data Management related field
  • Extensive experience and senior-level Enterprise Architecture expertise
  • Extensive experience of Sales and Marketing technology platform including Salesforce and Adobe
  • Able to influence and deliver strategic vision, direction, and planning
  • The role holder will possess a blend of data architecture, analysis, and engineering skills
  • Experience in known industry architectural patterns
  • Understands cloud-based containerization strategies for hybrid cloud environments
  • Understanding the appropriate data structure and technology based on business use case
  • Experience in the use of data modeling technologies
  • Strong eye for business and broad enterprise understanding
  • High emotional intelligence and demonstrated influence with senior partners
  • Proven experience in transformation delivery and customer engagement
  • Sophisticated communication strategy and business awareness
  • Adaptability to operate at pace and collaborate with demanding partners
  • Flexibility to grow and move across domains

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $182 516 - $273 774. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
